Editing & Modifying.
Prompts for changing content, layout, design, and pages after your site is built.
Editing & Modifying
Once your site exists, every prompt is an incremental edit. VoxelSite sees your current pages, styles, and data — and applies changes while preserving everything else.
This page covers the full range of edits you can make through prompts.
Changing Content
Text and copy
Change the hero heading to "Handcrafted furniture for modern homes"
Rewrite the about page to sound more personal and less corporate
Make the homepage intro shorter — two sentences max
Update the tagline to "Fresh bread. Real ingredients. Every morning."
Business details
Our phone number is +44 7700 900123
Add our opening hours: Monday to Friday 9am–5pm, Saturday 10am–2pm, closed Sundays
We've moved to 15 High Street, Bristol BS1 4QA
Update the email to [email protected]
The AI stores these in site memory and uses them across all pages automatically — footer, contact page, headers, and structured data.
Tip: If you haven't already, providing your phone number, email, address, and hours all at once is the fastest way to get them everywhere on your site. See Prompting Basics → Provide contact details at creation for more.
Adding sections
Add a testimonials section to the homepage with 3 client quotes
Add a FAQ section at the bottom of the services page
Add a "Meet the team" section with 4 team members — I'll give you the details later
Add a pricing table with three tiers: Basic (£29/mo), Professional (£59/mo), and Enterprise (£149/mo)
Removing content
Remove the team section from the about page
Delete the blog page entirely
Remove the phone number from the footer — we prefer email only
Changing Design
Colour and mood
Make the site darker — I want a dark background with light text
Switch to a warm colour palette — think terracotta, cream, and amber
The primary colour should be a deep navy blue
Make it feel more premium — right now it looks a bit generic
The site feels too cold — warm it up
Typography
Use a serif font for headings — something editorial
Make the body text larger and easier to read
Use Google Fonts — Inter for body text and Playfair Display for headings
The text is too small on mobile
Spacing and layout
Add more whitespace between sections — it feels cramped
Make the hero section taller — full viewport height
The content area is too narrow, make it wider
Tighten up the spacing — there's too much gap between elements
Specific element styling
Make the buttons rounded with a hover animation
Add a subtle shadow to the service cards
The nav should be sticky and get a blur effect when scrolling
Add a gradient overlay to the hero image so the text is more readable
Managing Pages
Adding pages
Add a portfolio page with a grid of project cards
Create a separate menu page for our restaurant
Add a careers page — we're hiring a barista and a baker
Create a terms and conditions page
Modifying page structure
Move the contact form above the map section
Split the services page into two pages: one for residential and one for commercial
Add a sidebar to the blog page
Make the portfolio page use a masonry grid instead of a regular grid
Removing pages
Delete the blog page — we're not going to use it
Remove the about page and merge its content into the homepage
Working with Images
Using uploaded images
Upload your images through the Assets tab, then reference them in prompts:
Use the logo I uploaded as the header logo
Add the team photos to the about page
Use hero-image.jpg as the background for the homepage hero section
Using image URLs from the Assets tab
You can also copy an image's URL from the Assets tab and paste it directly into your prompt:
Use /assets/images/storefront.jpg as the hero background
Replace the current about page photo with /assets/images/team-2024.jpg
Built-in image library
Even without uploading images, VoxelSite has a built-in library of background textures, gradients, and gallery images. You can request specific styles:
Use a dark, moody background image for the hero
Add warm-toned texture backgrounds to alternate sections
Use gallery placeholder images for the portfolio grid
Image-specific adjustments
Make the hero image darker so the text is more readable
Add a gradient overlay to the background image — dark at the top, transparent at the bottom
Make the team photos circular instead of square
Add a subtle zoom effect when hovering over portfolio images
Navigation Changes
Add a "Shop" link to the navigation
Reorder the nav: Home, Services, Portfolio, About, Contact
Add a call-to-action button to the nav that says "Book a Consultation"
Change the mobile menu to a full-screen overlay instead of a slide-in panel
Make the nav sticky with a background blur on scroll
Forms
Adding forms
Add a contact form with name, email, phone, and message fields
Add a booking enquiry form with date picker, service selection, and a message field
Create an order form for custom furniture — materials, dimensions, timeline, and budget
Modifying forms
Add a phone number field to the contact form
Add a dropdown to the contact form: "How did you hear about us?" with options Social Media, Google, Referral, Other
Make the message field optional instead of required
Change the success message to "Thank you! We'll be in touch within 24 hours."
Components and Interactions
Accordions and tabs
Turn the FAQ section into an accordion — one question visible at a time
Add a tabbed section for our services — one tab per service category
Galleries and carousels
Add a photo gallery to the portfolio page — 3 columns on desktop, 1 on mobile
Create a testimonials carousel that auto-scrolls
Add a lightbox to the portfolio images so they expand on click
Counters and statistics
Add a stats section: 500+ projects completed, 12 years experience, 98% satisfaction rate
Add an animated counter that counts up when the section scrolls into view
Maps and location
Add a location section with our address and a static map image
Add directions text: "We're on the corner of Main Street and Elm Road, above the bookshop"
Social proof
Add a logo strip showing companies we've worked with
Add a "Featured in" section with publication logos
Add star ratings to the testimonials
Multi-step workflows
You don't have to do everything in one prompt. Build iteratively:
Step 1: Create the foundation
Build a website for my architecture firm, Lumen Studio. We design modern residential homes with a focus on natural light and sustainable materials.
Step 2: Refine the look
Make it darker and more dramatic. I want a charcoal background with warm accent lighting in the design.
Step 3: Add detail
Add a portfolio page with 6 projects. Each project card should have an image, title, location, and a short description.
Step 4: Add functionality
Add a contact form specifically for project enquiries: name, email, project type (dropdown: New Build, Extension, Renovation), budget range, and a message.
Step 5: Polish
Make the hero heading larger and add a subtle text shadow. Add a scroll-down indicator arrow at the bottom of the hero section.
Each prompt builds on the last. VoxelSite remembers everything.
