VoxelSite vs Framer

Compare a hosted visual design workflow with AI-built website files you can run on your own server.

Framer combines visual design, CMS content, and managed hosting. VoxelSite runs on your PHP hosting and generates website files you can edit and export. Framer’s documentation says it does not offer HTML export for self-hosting.

Choose Framer for a managed design and CMS workflow

Framer combines its visual editor with CMS collections and hosted publishing. It handles infrastructure such as image optimization, caching, and page rendering. This suits teams that want to design and publish through one service.

Keep its hosting requirement in your handover plan. Framer's export policy says its sites depend on platform services and it does not offer standalone HTML export for self-hosting.

Choose VoxelSite when the source files matter

VoxelSite generates PHP pages and JSON content on your hosting. You can inspect the output, change it in a code editor, and hand over the website files. The Studio also offers AI chat and visual editing.

You take responsibility for hosting, backups, and updates. AI generation sends prompts and relevant site context to the provider you connect. VoxelSite is free software under AGPL-3.0; hosting, a domain, and AI usage remain separate costs.

Check the client handover

Use the demo to inspect the editing tools. On your own installation, publish a page and download it as PHP or static HTML. Open the archive and check that the pages and assets you need are there.

A static host needs a submission service or PHP endpoint for forms. The PHP export includes a standalone handler with fewer features than the installed version. Follow the code export checklist and test on the client's host before moving the domain.

Common questions

Can I export a Framer site to HTML and host it myself?

Framer’s documentation says it does not offer HTML export for self-hosting. VoxelSite can export the last published website as PHP source or static HTML.

Can I move a Framer website into VoxelSite?

VoxelSite has no direct Framer project importer. Create the pages from a brief, move your content and assets, and test the new site. Check URL redirects, metadata, and forms before switching the domain.
