SEO & AI discovery

Review page metadata, Schema.org data, sitemap.xml, llms.txt and MCP tools before publishing your VoxelSite website.

VoxelSite creates page metadata and discovery files for search engines and connected AI tools. Review the generated text and structured data before publishing, especially names, contact details and business facts.

Search engine optimization

VoxelSite asks the AI to include the following page details. Check the generated output before publishing:

  • Title tags - descriptive, keyword-relevant titles
  • Meta descriptions - summaries of each page
  • Semantic HTML - proper heading hierarchy (one <h1> per page), landmarks, and semantic elements
  • Open Graph tags - for social media sharing previews
  • Alt text - on every image
  • ARIA labels - where needed for accessibility
  • Color contrast - review text and background combinations as part of accessibility testing

Generated on publish

With valid business data in assets/data/site.json, publishing generates these files. If a file is missing, check that JSON file and publish again:

File Purpose
sitemap.xml Page URLs with priorities and last-modified dates
robots.txt Crawler rules that welcome search engines and AI agents, with a Sitemap: directive

AI discovery

Published discovery files give connected tools a way to read your site information.

llms.txt

Publishing creates llms.txt, a plain-text description of your business and pages for connected tools. Check its content after publishing.

MCP server

Publishing creates the public Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoint at mcp.php. This visitor interface is separate from authenticated Studio MCP at /_studio/mcp.php. A compatible AI client can connect to:

  • Read your business information
  • Browse your menu, services, or product listings
  • Get contact details and opening hours
  • Submit form data (e.g., make a booking)
  • Discover and call your Actions (reservations, signups, inquiries)

Active actions appear as MCP tools with names and typed schemas. A compatible client must connect to the endpoint to call them. Installed forms and action tools need Studio; PHP exports provide read-only MCP tools.

Schema.org structured data

Publishing writes _partials/schema.php for business details and available FAQ data. The AI can add other types, such as WebPage or breadcrumbs. Inspect the rendered HTML to check which types your site includes:

  • Organization/LocalBusiness - your business name, address, phone, hours
  • WebPage - standard page metadata
  • FAQ - frequently asked questions
  • Breadcrumbs - navigation hierarchy

The generated JSON-LD describes your business and pages in a structured format. Check that it matches the visible page content.

Structured data layer

Beyond Schema.org, VoxelSite maintains a data layer in assets/data/:

File Content
site.json Core site info - name, description, features
memory.json Private authoring facts; excluded from public reads, publication and export
design-intelligence.json Private design context; excluded from public reads, publication and export
{feature}.json Feature-specific data (menu, services, team, etc.)

Review draft data when business details change. Publish customer-facing facts in site.json and supported public data documents. Public MCP and REST business reads use published data, never a private-draft fallback. Check that visible pages match those published facts.

Reviewing search and AI information

Use SEO in Chat to request changes to search and AI information. Ask for a focused review of:

  • FAQ section completeness
  • Structured data coverage
  • llms.txt quality
  • Local business details
  • Meta description quality

Editing SEO and AI files

Open Editor and expand SEO & AI in the sidebar. You can edit:

  • robots.txt - control which crawlers can access your site and which paths are blocked
  • llms.txt - customize the AI-readable description of your business, pages, and features

Studio saves these as private _root/robots.txt and _root/llms.txt overrides. The publication review tells you whether each public file will be generated or use your saved override. Apply the reviewed publication to make it live. Direct edits to managed public files can produce a conflict on the next publication.

  • Actions - actions that serve both website visitors and AI agents
  • Download & export - export your site with robots.txt and llms.txt included
  • Code editor - the built-in editor where SEO & AI files are editable
  • Publishing - how publishing regenerates SEO files
