VoxelSite vs Webstudio

Choose between AI-generated PHP pages and a visual builder with external CMS connections and export options.

Webstudio is a visual website builder with static and dynamic exports. VoxelSite generates editable PHP pages from a brief and runs its Studio on PHP hosting. Both let you host exported websites yourself; their editing tools and hosting requirements differ.

Choose Webstudio for visual control and CMS connections

Webstudio lets you bind components to data from an external CMS over an HTTP API. It suits a project where you want to choose the content backend and design pages in a visual editor.

Choose the export format before planning hosting. Its dynamic JavaScript export supports CMS connections and webhook forms. The static export has fewer features, including no dynamic pages or webhook forms.

Choose VoxelSite for AI-generated PHP on shared hosting

Describe the site, review the generated pages, and refine them through chat, visual edits, or the code editor. The Studio compiles CSS with PHP, so installation needs no Node.js or frontend build step.

The generated site uses PHP pages, shared partials, CSS, JavaScript, and referenced assets. You can inspect these files and edit them with your own tools. The Studio uses SQLite for accounts and revision history.

Check the workflow with one page

In the VoxelSite demo, open a page and inspect it in the code editor. On your own installation, change a heading, publish, and download the PHP website. Test its links and a form submission on the destination host.

The download includes a standalone form handler with fewer features than the installed handler. Read the export documentation before a client handover.

Common questions

Can I self-host a Webstudio website?

Yes. Webstudio supports static exports and dynamic JavaScript application exports. The Builder and exported websites are separate; its documentation advises against self-hosting the Builder in production.

Can I import a Webstudio project into VoxelSite?

VoxelSite has no direct Webstudio project importer. Rebuild the pages from a brief, add your content and assets, and check redirects, metadata, and forms before changing hosts.
