AI Router with Jev
Set up optional TypeSafe Jev routing to choose a model and instructions for each website request.
With AI Router on, VoxelSite asks TypeSafe's Jev model to assess each request before it builds the prompt for your writing model. A small copy edit can use your Faster model and a focused set of instructions. New pages and larger design changes use your Stronger model with more site context.
You choose both models from your saved AI provider. VoxelSite keeps your default model for requests it cannot route with confidence. You can leave the router off and use every editing tool.
Turn it on
- Open Settings → AI Provider. Save your provider, key and Default model first.
- Find AI Router below it and turn on Enable AI Router.
- Enter a separate key from the TypeSafe console.
- Choose a Faster model for small edits and a Stronger model for broader work. Both must belong to your saved provider.
- Click Save AI Router.
The lists group recognizable model families and show their newest dated models first. When a provider supplies no dates, VoxelSite uses known version numbers where it can and otherwise keeps the provider's order. Saved choices stay selected when you reopen Settings.
Leaving both model fields empty keeps your default generation path for edits. To use model routing, choose both. If you change your AI provider, choose matching routing models before using them again.
What happens to a request

Jev returns structured choices. VoxelSite maps them to existing instructions; Jev does not write the website code or invent system prompts. Your explicit editing action and selected page still constrain the request.
Targeted edits wait for generation to finish before applying output. VoxelSite checks that the selected source has not changed in the meantime. If it has, refresh the page and send the request again. Exact replacements support normal undo.
When routing cannot proceed
A missing or unreadable TypeSafe key, service outage, uncertain response or invalid model selection sends the request through your default generation path. The Studio reports the fallback. Your editing tools remain available.
A request that needs more context than the focused route can hold also uses the default path. VoxelSite does not cut an editable source file to make that route fit.
Look at Your recent requests in the AI Router card to see recorded model choices and whether a request used default handling. These records do not certify the quality of an edit.
Manage your key
The password dots mean a key exists; they do not contain the key. Leave the field unchanged or blank to keep it. With the router on, enter a new key and save to replace it.
Remove key appears beside the field only when a key exists. Click it to stage removal and turn the router off. Undo cancels that choice. Save AI Router applies both changes together. You can manage a stored key while the router is off.
Only the owner can change these settings. VoxelSite encrypts the key at rest and excludes it from settings reads, prompt context and logs. Agent API clients cannot read the TypeSafe key or change Router settings.
What leaves your server
For classification, VoxelSite sends TypeSafe your request text, the action and page scope, the site name, a bounded page list and target identifiers with file paths and fingerprints. It does not send selected source text, page source bodies or image bytes in that classification request. It includes a flag when the request has images.
The writing model still receives the prompt and site context it needs through your selected AI provider. TypeSafe's own terms govern the classification request. See TypeSafe's introduction to Jev for the model's role.
Costs and limits
Routing adds a TypeSafe API call. A smaller writing model or shorter prompt can reduce generation use, but total cost depends on the request, your models and the extra classification call. VoxelSite has no verified live savings percentage to promise.
The same owner settings apply to Studio requests and Agent API prompt execution. Direct file edits and publish requests do not pass through AI Router. Review the preview before publishing.
