Studio MCP overview
Work on a VoxelSite website from your own AI tool. Start with read access, review draft changes and publish separately.
Studio MCP connects an external AI tool to your VoxelSite installation. The tool can read website context, prepare changes and apply them to the private draft within the permissions you grant. Your conversation stays in the AI tool; website changes and their attribution appear in Studio.
This connection does not call VoxelSite’s built-in AI providers. Your client supplies the model and follows its own billing and usage limits. See Costs and limits.
Start with a read
- Sign in to Studio as the owner and open Settings → Connections.
- If shown, choose Finish private draft setup and complete that process. Then choose Enable connections.
- Select Codex, Claude Code or Other MCP client. For the first check, select Read the site.
- Check Connection name, account, and expiry, then choose Create credential. Save the credential when it appears. It is revealed once.
- Follow the setup guide for Codex, Claude Code or another client.
Try this first task:
Read the website and summarize its pages, design, and granted access. Suggest one useful draft improvement. Do not change or publish anything yet.
Return to Connections and choose Check result. Copying a URL or configuration does not confirm a connection. An authenticated request or a last-used time provides evidence that the server received a request.
Choose access for the next task
Edit drafts permits private website changes. Edit and publish also permits publication. Business and administrative operations have separate grants. Draft editing allows trusted PHP code, so give it only to a client and account you trust with your server. It is not a PHP sandbox.
Follow the site lifecycle when editing: read context, review the proposed changes, apply, preview, then decide whether to publish.
Three different interfaces
| Interface | Purpose |
|---|---|
/_studio/mcp.php |
Private Studio MCP, with an account-bound MCP credential |
/_studio/api/agent/v1/ |
The authenticated REST Agent API, with its own credentials |
/mcp.php |
The published website’s visitor-facing interface |
Copy the exact Studio MCP endpoint from Settings, including any installation subdirectory. The public endpoint is not an editing connection. These setup guides describe configuration methods, not a blanket compatibility certification for every client version.
