Email configuration

As the site owner, configure email for form and action notifications in Studio. Both use the same settings.

Setting up email

Open Settings and find Email & Notifications. Choose a Delivery Method.

SMTP (recommended)

Use SMTP when you have mail server credentials. VoxelSite includes presets for common providers:

Select a preset. VoxelSite fills in the server details. Enter your username and password, or the app password your provider requires.

If your provider is absent, choose Custom SMTP Server. Enter its host, port, username, password and encryption type.

PHP mail

Choose PHP mail() to use your server's mail function. Delivery depends on your host's mail setup.

No email

If you do not need notifications, choose Not configured. VoxelSite still stores submissions for you to read in Studio.

Testing

Enter a Test Email address, then click Send Test. Check that inbox and its spam folder. A successful response confirms acceptance for delivery, not arrival in the inbox. A lost response does not prove that no message was sent. Check the retained result before requesting another send.

Security

VoxelSite encrypts saved SMTP passwords with AES-256-CBC and the installation key. Keep the installation configuration and database private.

Fallback behavior

If SMTP fails, VoxelSite tries PHP mail(). If both fail, it logs the error. The submission remains stored; check Studio when a notification is missing.

Action email notifications

With email configured, VoxelSite attempts these notifications after an action submission:

• Owner notification: submission details go to the configured owner address. A valid visitor email becomes the Reply-To address.
• Guest confirmation: if the submission has a valid email address, the visitor receives the reference code and submitted details.

API-based providers

Email configuration and tests are owner administration. External tools need the corresponding permission and exact approved operation; see Administration. Website restoration does not undo a delivered email.

If your email service supplies SMTP credentials, use Custom SMTP Server. VoxelSite does not use the service's HTTP API.
